S&P Indices: Market Attributes - July 2010 U.S. Equities

The S&P 500 reversed its two-month decline this month, posting a broad 6.88% gain, while the S&P SmallCap 600 reversed its course, improving by 6.26% after two consecutive months of losses. Overall, earnings came in better than expected for the S&P 500, easily beating out Q2,’09 by 53% and posting an extremely high margin rate of 9.7%, which will be a record if it holds.
